The following is subject to change, but as of February of 2006, here are some details:

The Argentine Tango dance classes in Baton Rouge average about 30-40 people. There are 3 different levels of classes which are "pure beginner", "beginner 2nd level", and "intermediate". Currently, all classes are held on Monday nights at "Rick and Robin's Nightclub" in the Calloway Inn near Sherwood Forest and I-12.

Dance classes are held in 4-week sessions. The cost for a set of 4 weeks of lessons is $30 for individuals and $50 for couples. Pure beginner classes are at 6:30 on Mondays.

The next Tango class series start on Monday February 13, 2006 and goes for 4 Mondays. There is a special gala dance after the completion of the 4 week dance class session. That dance features food, performances, and lots of great dancing.

Also, there are Tango dances on most Wednesdays.

There is a lot of information on what is Tango dance at the website at wikipedia.org Here is a short exerpt from wikipedia:

Tango is a social dance form that originated in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Montevideo, Uruguay. The musical styles that evolved together with the dance are also known as tango. Early tango was known as tango criollo or simply tango. Today, there are many tango dance styles including Argentine tango, ballroom tango (American and International styles), Finnish tango, Chinese tango, and vintage tangos. The tango is regarded as the "authentic" tango since it is closest to that originally danced in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Montevideo, Uruguay.
