Clarence's Top 40 Songs of Cajun Music
Welcome to the Clarence's Top 40 Songs of Cajun Music. These are Louisiana's famous and popular Cajun music recordings. This list has being compiled by Clarence, a Cajun DJ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This page contains: 1) Clarence's list of Top 40 Cajun Songs 2) Louisiana versions of Americain songs and novelty songs 3) 2002 Cajun French Music Association's Le Cajun Awards 4) 2001 Cajun French Music Association's Le Cajun Awards Disclaimer: This list may not reflect actual amount of air play that a song gets, the amount of sales that a song generates, or by the ratings given by other organizations. This list is being composed from my experience of being a D.J. for a cajun radio show for over 10 years. As a Cajun who has followed the music from my teenage years, I hope that this will provide newcomers to the Cajun and Zydeco scene with a starting point for searching out recordings. Guidelines: I am limiting each artist to two of the most popular songs that the artist has done. Bands may be from any region of the US or other countries as long as the style of the recorded songs are in this genre. Request from Clarence: One of my hobbies is running a free cajun accordion loan program. I get a lot of requests to borrow an accordion from aspiring musicians. If you are feeling generous and would like to support a good cajun cause, how about making a financial contribution to help me buy another accordion to loan out? Please read more about it at Clarence's Cajun Accordion Loan Program.
